We got tired
of eating
alone.
Bwalo started in Lusaka in early 2026. The idea was simple: why is it so hard to make real friends as a working adult in Zambia?
Not acquaintances. Not LinkedIn connections. Not the people you nod to in the lift. Friends, people you text on a Tuesday, people you call when something good happens, people you did not need to meet at school or work to feel close to.
We had good jobs, full calendars, and almost no one to spend weekends with. So we built what we could not find.
Not an app.
Not a one-off.
A circle.
Bwalo is a recurring social circle. The same people, week after week, at curated venues across your city. One week an open social, the next a rooftop dinner, a wine tasting, a hike, a Sunday brunch. The formats change. The people stay.
Every event is free right now. No card, no membership, no catch. We are in the early days, building the community before we ask anything of it. Come once and see if it is for you.
There is no algorithm deciding who you meet. No feed to scroll. No badges for attending. Just real people, in a real room, in a city you actually live in.
A typical
month.
The formats rotate. The faces start to feel familiar.
What we believe.
Repetition is the design
One event will not change your social life. Ten events with the same faces will. Bwalo is built for the long run, not the one night novelty.
Small is intentional
We cap events deliberately. 20 people, sometimes 30. You will know every face in the room, or nearly. We do not scale headcount. We scale cities instead.
Zambia is not a backdrop
Bwalo exists for young Zambians. The culture, the humour, the references, the music, the food, it is ours. We are not modelled on anything from elsewhere.
No pressure, ever
Show up once. Leave early. Bring a friend. Miss two months. Come back anyway. There is no social contract. You are welcome however you arrive.
Curation over chance
We choose venues, formats, sizes, and timing deliberately. Good environments for connection do not happen by accident. We put in the work so you do not have to.
Honest pricing
K250 per month in Kwacha. No annual lock in. No useless lite plan. Cancel from your dashboard any time. We would rather earn your membership than trap it.
Come see for
yourself.
The next open social in your city is free. No membership required. Just show up.
